What is our Original Surface Technology?
The original Titan Spine surface technology started with a question: how can an interbody fusion device promote bone growth? And the answer we found was by interacting with the patient’s cells to activate their natural bone growth mechanisms.
It was the breakthrough that sparked the entire surface technology revolution, leading to our proprietary combination of surface textures that altered the interbody fusion landscape forever. By working at the macro, micro, and cellular levels, our Original Surface was proven to rapidly promote the production of bone growth factors necessary for rapid bone growth and subsequent fusion.1
The surface has been the subject of extensive research that has resulted in 11 peer-reviewed published studies, including the landmark study that was published in The Spine Journal in 2012 that changed the spine industry forever, and has been implanted over 50,000 times since its commercial launch in 2007.
